Worst-case scenario in the past seemed to be a last-minute trip to the hospital for babies that just wouldn't come on their own. But recently a friend's baby suffered permanent damage during the birthing process, lack of oxygen, probable brain damage, and unknown developmental delays (baby is a few months old and doesn't cry yet). These friends will never know if they might have had another outcome by opting for a hospital birth. Very difficult situation.
